Spike was shot down by the North Vietnamese during the Vietnam war and survived five and a half years in a Viet Cong prison, also named the Hanoi Hilton. Spike wrote several books about his experiences which included becoming a Canadian bush pilot and going back to Vietnam after the war. This interview is pertinent as the interviewer Stephen Jacobs flew as a backseater in F4Cs with Spike during several special missions over North Vietnam.
